Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 31, 2026
SkillTape ("we," "us," or "our") operates the SkillTape mobile application and website at skilltape.app (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our Service.
By using SkillTape, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile details through our authentication provider, Clerk. You may also sign in using a third-party account (e.g., Google or Apple), in which case we receive basic profile information from that provider.
Video Content. You may upload training footage, sparring clips, and other video recordings to the Service. Videos may contain identifiable images of you and others.
Annotations and Notes. Any tags, annotations, timestamps, or comments you create within the Service are stored alongside your video content.
Subscription and Payment Information. When you subscribe to SkillTape Premium, payment is processed through Apple's App Store or Google Play via RevenueCat. We do not directly collect or store your credit card number or payment credentials. We receive transaction identifiers, subscription status, and entitlement information from RevenueCat.
Communications. If you contact us for support or provide feedback, we collect the content of those communications.
Information Collected Automatically
Usage Analytics. We use Mixpanel to collect anonymized and pseudonymized usage data, including screens viewed, features used, session duration, and interaction patterns. This helps us understand how athletes and coaches use SkillTape and improve the experience.
Error and Performance Data. We use Sentry to collect crash reports, error logs, and performance metrics. These reports may include device information, operating system version, app version, and stack traces. Sentry data is used exclusively for diagnosing and fixing technical issues.
Device Information. We collect device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and app version.
Log Data. Our servers automatically record information such as IP address, access times, and referring URLs.

User-Uploaded Video Content
SkillTape is designed for athletes and coaches to review and annotate training footage. You are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from any individuals who appear in videos you upload.
Storage and Processing. Videos are processed and delivered through Mux, our video infrastructure provider. Mux stores and encodes your videos to enable playback, scrubbing, and streaming within the app.
Ownership. You retain full ownership of your video content. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your uploads.
Access. Your videos are private by default. We do not access, view, or share your video content except as necessary to provide the Service, comply with law, or enforce our Terms of Service.
Deletion. When you delete a video or your account, we initiate deletion of the associated video content from our systems and from Mux. Some residual copies may persist in backups for a limited period before being permanently removed.

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from children under the age of 16. Because SkillTape requires users to be at least 16 years old:

Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), secure authentication via Clerk, and access controls on our infrastructure. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
